International Performer and Instructor of the Art of Belly Dance Angela Buttrey 12 day tour Our starting point is Athens! The capital of Greece, the glory of the classical world, which still pulses with life and continues to fascinate visitors from all over the world. Explore “visions of the past” archeological sites from our Athenian starting point. Some places we will visit are the Acropolis, a symbol of the glory of ancient Greece, the Parthenon, a shrine to the goddess Athena, the Acropolis' new museum, amazing treasures of an ancient Athenian city visible through a glass floor. We can meander through Monastiraki square, a trade market with a variety of shops, cafe’s, tavernas and sightseeing. We will travel to the mystical, ancient city of Delphi, which was believed by many great leaders to be the physical and spiritual centre of the earth. You'll see the breathtaking ruins of the grand Temple of the god Apollo, a museum with incredible artifacts and you can even wash your hands in the same spring used by those who made the pilgrimage to have the oracle divinate their fates over 1000 years ago. We'll visit the Corinth Canal which was built in the 19th century, then to Epidaurus ,the city dedicated to Aesclepius, the god of healing, with an a magnificent theater built into the ground, with fantastic acoustics We will continue to Mycenae, where we’ll see the remains of the Royal Palace and tomb of Agamemnon. We’ll be staying at the beautiful 4+star Amalia Athens hotel, walking distance to the Acropolis, to Plaka and the tourist and business centre of town. There, you’ll participate in dance classes with 3 of Greece’s Belly dance superstars, Maria Aya, Unaneyia, Athena Najat, and with with Angela Buttery and Anisa. Yoga in the morning will be included, for dancers and non dancers alike. We’ll experience the famed Greek nightlife, visiting a night club with famous singers and dining on delicacies of Greece in excellent restaurants. A full day of master workshops will be available, taught by the above teachers, culminating in a fabulous gala show in an Arabic restaurant, with an opportunity for all dancers to perform. We will then embark on a 5-day/4-night, enjoyment-filled, Greek island cruise aboard the Agean Pearl to extraordinary islands including Mykonos, one of the most beautiful islands in the world, Patmos, a sacred island, Santorini, all white-washed houses set into the steep cliffs shaped by the volcano, Rhodes, the legendary home of the sun good Apollo, Crete, the start of Minoan civilization, and a fun excursion to Kusadasi in Turkey where we will visit Ephesus, an ancient 8th Century BC Greek city (free bonus excursion.)
